Secnap Featured on CRN - Expert: Rogue States Haven't Been This Aggressive Since Pirates Roamed The Seas
SECNAP Highlights Critical Cybersecurity Threats
The rising threat of offensive cyber activities from rogue states such as Russia, China, and Iran is leaving private companies and critical infrastructure exposed, says Bryan Cunningham, executive director of UC Irvine's Cybersecurity Policy and Research Institute. SECNAP Network Security's Vice President of Sales, Richard Duman, emphasized the need for robust cybersecurity measures, including vulnerability scanning and patching, to protect smaller businesses, particularly in critical sectors like banking. Duman stressed that companies must go beyond compliance to address real threats effectively, aligning with SECNAP’s mission to harden networks against attacks. Cunningham warns that the lack of international cybersecurity regulations increases the risk of misunderstandings that could escalate into conflict, underscoring the urgency of deterrent measures from the U.S. government. With election systems and critical infrastructure increasingly at risk, SECNAP and other solution providers are vital in defending against cyberattacks and maintaining confidence in national security.
"Collectively, if we don't protect our assets, that can become a national and economic security threat, because our assets can be taken over and used to launch DDoS and other attacks," Cunningham said.
